Outreach and Service
CFA (Center for Food Action)
We gather food donations throughout the year to help stock the shelves at a local food pantry. Before Thanksgiving, our youth group goes to the shelter and helps organize and pass out bags of food to families in need. During the summer, we collect school supplies for local children so that they may have a good start in September.
We host homeless familes of Bergen County along with two other churches in Allendale. Together, we provide evening and lunch meals, overnight hosts, and a safe place for families to spend the night together.
We buy, wrap and deliver gifts for children in Paterson and Bergen County who have a parent who is incarcerated. Angel Tree brings a little joy to families in need.
We collect and donate specific items in order to provide Christmas-time cheer and fellowship to seafarers who are at sea and far from family and friends.
Lutheran World Relief/Disaster Reponse
This organization brings God’s hope, healing and renewal to people whose lives have been disrupted by disasters in the United States and around the world. When the dust settles and the headlines change, the LWR stays to provide ongoing assistance to those in need. Congregation members contribute to this ministry.
We raise money and help pack shipping containers to send to the coalition school for girls in Haiti. We also help support Pastor Andy Topp in this mission and ministry.
Hope and Healing After an Addiction Death
Created in response to the Opioid epidemic affecting Bergen County and beyond, this is a bereavement and support group for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one due to the disease of addiction. There is also a siblings/young adult group for those 17 or older who are mourning the loss of friends, siblings, and family members. Meetings are held at Calvary Lutheran Church, 165 West Crescent Avenue, Allendale, New Jersey on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 7:30-9:00pm. There is no fee and all are welcome. (Note: the siblings/young adult group schedule varies. Please call please contact Gail Cole at email@example.com, Patty Trava at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Lani Bonifacic at 201-786-8572/ Lani@Lanibonifacic.com for information.
The mission of Eva's Village is to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, treat the addicted and provide medical and dental care to the poor with respect for the human dignity of each individual. Calvary’s Stitchers (needleworkers) and other committees support Eva’s Village.
